  • Drugs are listed generically, apart from compound preparations where it is easier to use a  "trade name" in the list.
  • The Chapter structure reflects that of the BNF.
  • The BCUHB Drug and Therapeutics Group decides the Formulary content. To submit a request for a medicine to be included onto the Formulary, please see the application form on the Drug and Therapeutics Application webpage.
  • Please note that the Formulary contains links to other documents (eg BNF) which provide background information only.  BCUHB policy as included in the Formulary monographs  takes precedence over information in the links.

Help with searching the Formulary
Enter the generic name of the medicine you require in the search box.  Click on "Search" to see a list of products listed as follows:
Formulary results.  Medicines included in the BCUHB Formulary will be listed first.   Clicking on the highlighted drug name will take you to the relevant BCUHB Formulary page.  No entry in this section means the drug is not in the BCUHB Formulary and should not be used
Non-Formulary results.  Any entry here indicates a drug included in the BNF (in the section quoted), but not in the BCUHB Formulary.
Document results.  Relevant national guidelines (eg those produced by NICE) are listed here.  Clicking on the document name will take you to the document.
To see the range of medicines in a particular class, use the chapter headings on the left of the screen and click on the "+" signs to open the relevant section.
